Groundhog Day, HMMM

Lets start off saying, happy groundhog day?    

In my opinion, yes i have opinions, most don't think so, because i can be so quiet,and voiceless.  Well, it seems like everywhere i see it seems to be gopher day, i mean groundhog day.  Is it some prediction that we will have a shorter winter, or a longer winter?  How does the poor groundhog know? After all if i saw my shadow i would run too. Shadows can be a scary thing, don't you think so?  

Getting back to the groundhog, he or she will come out of their hole and peek around, to see if there is if they are safe, you never know, what predators are out there, even in the winter time.  

The groundhog comes slowly out to see all around, to see is it safe to come out, and find something to eat, and if all is all right he or she will go looking just in case,  its a nice sunny day and all white everywhere.  Will it see a shadow or not?  Poor thing is already scared.  If it gets scared it will run back into its hole and hide. 

So, my theory is if its sunny it sure will see a shadow, but if its cloudy there are no shadows.   So people should just leave the poor groundhog alone and let him be at peace, if you were the groundhog, wouldn't you get scared seeing all those people and shadows?   As using a groundhog to predict how long winter will be is so silly, people will find anything to celebrate about. Ok
